I am an artist living and working in San Jose, CA. I paint primarily in oil on canvas, focusing on the figure and portraiture. I work in my home studio. Composing my life around making art has been an important endeavor for me because I believe it is a true vocation. My work is influenced by the art of John Singer Sargent, the Impressionists, John Koche, the Ashcan school, and the teachings and artwork of Robert Henri.

I often break from painting to explore other media, i.e., lumber, textile/costume design, art cars, mural design, knitted work, ceramics and more.  After nearly 30 years of exposure, an ongoing affection for the tools, textures, fumes, and rituals of painting in oil keeps my studio from reverting into a bedroom (or sewing room or ceramics studio).
